5 posts in this topic

Today the CT house and Senate have reached an agreement on a new budget with the Governor's approval. the vote will most likely be Tomorrow Sept 15th.

In this budget they have set aside $115 million for XL renovations

Guys this the day we have hoping for. Our XL Center is going to get the upgrades it desperately needs and now we are showing the NHL we mean business when it comes to wanting to be taken seriously bout the NHL!!!!

This is really very simple.  This is the time where we need UConn to show it's political clout.  Meaning, it's time for Susan Herbst and David Benedict to contact that convict Bridgeport calls mayor, and say "either your legislators approve this XL renovation, or we pull every UConn event out of Bridgeport.  Meaning no more women's NCAA tournament, meaning no more hockey tournament, etc."

Mark, just so you know, UConn wasn't the only host college for Bridgeport. UConn joined Fairfield in that bid. I still also don't see UConn pushing for these upgrades. The XL Center is already bigger than they need. They seem to care more about their new satellite campus at the Hartford Times Building and the current expansion of the main campus in Storrs.

It also looks like we'll be waiting a lot longer for this budget to be p*****ed. http://www.nbcconnecticut.com/news/local/Democrat-Budget-Plan-Collapses-in-Connecticut-House-444608823.html

Let me ask you...what college has more clout in the NCAA offices?  UConn?  Or Fairfield?  Hint:  It's not Fairfield.
