Since 2010 people have been telling me Seattle > Hartford (Not)

Recommended Posts

Nothing new here.  Seattle has been dragging their feet for years on building a new arena.  And the NHL won't put a team there without it.  As far as expansion is concerned, it's not necessary for Seattle.  If the Coyotes are still vomiting money in Arizona by the time Seattle's new arena is ready, they'll be at the top of the list for relocation.

As far as Hartford is concerned, we're almost as far from having an NHL-ready arena as Seattle is.  There's no money available for the type of renovations that the NHL would require to host a team.  Everyone agrees that Hartford is not an expansion candidate, we would need a relocation.  And the conference alignment issue, which is a bigger deal than some people think it is, means that a team would have to move from the eastern conference.  In other words, not the Coyotes.  Carolina and Florida are possibilities, but they have been for years, and haven't moved yet, so we'll see.  Quebec's new arena stands ready to welcome an eastern relocation before Hartford.

Lol stop this foolishness. Seattle has a much better chance to get a team than Hartford at this point. Both cities still a longshot however.

1. Seattle and the northwest in general has a growing young population that love niche sports like soccer and hockey

2. The city of seattle and the state of washington is in a much better financial state than hartford.

3. There are more teams in the East than the west. The coyotes or canes or panthers would fair much better in Seattle than the sad state Hartford is in. We still don't have the XL center money lol.

4. The group that wanted a team in Seattle actually was real and not in the dark.

When Bettman says “We’re nowhere close to that”. In regards to Hartford youd be right but he hasn’t and he won’t because basically Hartford is a better hockey market and Seattle doesn’t have an arena as close to NHL Ready.

As most reasonable people have been saying, if Seattle got its ***** together than yea they’d be in front but they haven’t been really ever.

Seattle won't be in front until they start moving with the renovations to the existing facility, or when they break ground on a new one.

Until then, they're behind Hartford.
