IT'S HAPPENING: Courant front page: Amazon at Enfield Mall

Recommended Posts

Enfield has made a bid to Amazon, for Amazon to take over the site of the Enfield Mall.  They are stressing the importance of the Knowledge Corridor, between Yale University and Amherst M*****.  Enfield Mall is only 10 miles away from Bradley Airport, only 2 minutes away from the Springfield to New Haven high speed rail line, and Enfield is about equidistant from Boston and New York.  Amazon would want to bring 50,000 employees to a new home, that would be a major game changer to Enfield and all of the local communities.

I think we are now getting a better look at why new casinos are being built in Springfield and East Windsor and why the high speed New Haven to Springfield train line was installed on such a quick timeline, the powers that be know what is really happening behind the scenes.  Much like the baseball stadium move from New Britain to Hartford, the public is usually the last to know, with the deals happening behind the scenes, this could be why the Hartford NHL investors have been keeping a low key, they know what is happening behind the scenes.    This could also explain why Amazon already has such a large **lfillment center and distribution center footprint in the state of Connecticut, Amazon wants its Eastern Headquarters and entire Eastern operation in Connecticut.

Hmmm, Last I heard, 238 cities had applied to host Amazon's Eastern HQ.  That number includes New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia.  But I'm sure none of them have a chance when compared to Enfield...

I am convinced WhalerCentral is TimmyFromBoosters, aka WolfPackFan1998, aka Frank.

Cut the crap, Frank.  The chances of Amazon moving here are extremely long.  And Amazon, despite what anyone at the Courant thinks, has nothing, as in Z-E-R-O to do with the XL Center, or the NHL.

Very interesting developments, it seems that Denver might be thinking that Hartford is getting Amazon.

The OEDIT also put together a fact sheet based on REMI’s analysis of how Amazon would impact Connecticut in particular.

That analysis found that there would be a large initial increase in construction jobs, though the facts sheet said that “construction is viewed as a temporary phase, and as construction phases out, these impacts will fade.”

The OEDIT fact sheet looked at three possible scenarios under the REMI analysis.

One *****umed that Amazon would hire people over five years, and found housing prices would rise steadily, though around $13 billion in revenue would be generated.

Another model *****umed the same amount of job creation, but over 10 years, and found similar outcomes but with about $4 billion less in incentives.

A third scenario *****umed only 2,500 employees would be hired over five years—a “worst case scenario,” according to the fact sheet—and found that the state would see a revenue increase over 15 years of $869 million.
