CRDA and MSG close to a 5-year extension

Recommended Posts

The CRDA website has p*****ed the minutes from their last meeting and it shows that they're close to signing a five year extension with MSG to keep the Wolf Pack in the XL Center. It also has provisions that will keep them in the building even if the building is sold before the contract ends. They also mention that they've discussed an extension to their contract with UConn but nothing has been agreed to and that the naming rights might be extended as well.

I was really surprised to see them say that the contract was for five years, because Howlings only said it was two and you all called them lairs. I was also shocked to see that the CRDA and UConn don't have a twenty year contract like you all said they did. Amazing isn't it? Well, this just shows that none of you know what you're talking about and that your "sources" are all just in your heads.

Rangers execs have been exploring other cities for the past year for where to place the Pack, this April will be the Pack's last game played in Hartford.  The Pack don't want to be playing in Hartford during the renovations, the State is losing money by having the Pack playing here, the Pack are having the worst attendance of their stay in Hartford, there is a slight chance that the Pack could play 1 more final year in Hartford, but most people don't see that happening.

Just because it's in the minutes doesn't mean it's a done deal, Fraudie.  And, as I'm sure you know, any deal with the WolfPack becomes null and void the minute the NHL approves a relocation here.  Oh, and the UConn extension...should it be finalized, covers the next 3 seasons, which would make your whole "They're moving all their games back to Storrs" a bunch of crap.

If you're going to throw stones, Fraudie...you probably shouldn't live in a gla$$ house....

It's a two year deal

With three one year options.

Earliest the Pack could leave after 2020 season

Latest they can stay 2023 without a new deal

Or an NHL team could displace them at any time.

Three years could just be long enough for them to build a new arena on campus. If they weren't going to leave, then why aren't they signing a five year contract like the Wolf Pack?

Well...unlike the WolfPack, UConn is supposed to be a partner in a renovated building.  By the end of the three years, there may not be any need for a lease, if the renovations happen.

And as Evo said...if the WolfPack sign the deal, it's a 2 year deal with 3 options.  That's a lot different than a **ll-fledged 5 year deal.  Options are just that.

UConn isn't moving for one simple reason.  You can't sell beer on Campus.  Sorry but it's a huge reason on why they came to Hartford and why they make money.

Why would the hockey team leave and the Bball stay. UConn bball has been in Hartford for almost 30 years

UConn basketball has been in Hartford for 40 years...The night before the roof gave way back in 1978, UConn was playing UMa$$ in basketball at the Civic Center.
