Like I keep saying, SOMETHING BIG IS HAPPENING BEHIND THE SCENES.  All of these things can't keep happening for it to be a big string of coincidences, there is something big going on.  The Governor is asking the Hurricanes to play in East Hartford, just hours after the Hurricanes announcer's daughter is on national TV, just days after the Whalers license plate is unveiled, just days after The Eagles announce their tour is coming to the XL Center and weeks after Journey says their Tour is starting at the XL Center, and while all of this is happening, we still have an announcement being made for the Whalers at Blue Back Square in early March.

Also, note how the Governor thanked the Brigade, the Brigade was also pivotal in coming up with the idea for the Whalers License Plate, the Brigade has done more in 3 years than the Boosters have done in 20 years, the Brigade have a weekly TV platform and appeared on Fox61 with Al Terzi recently, the Brigade is making things happen.

Below, you will now notice #24 added to my list.

There is something really big going on in Hartford, everything is happening all at once, such as the following things which have all happened in the past few months:

  1. new baseball stadium that opened recently
  2. new soccer stadium coming
  3. new soccer team coming
  4. State approves $40 million for XL Center
  5. recently mentioned that XL Center going up for sale this year
  6. new Travel Center opening in next 3 months
  7. new restaurant recently opened at XL Center
  8. Aetna decided to keep Headquarters in Hartford
  9. last year, Governor and Mayor ask Islanders to move here
  10. new UConn campus recently opened in Hartford
  11. DMV will be handing out new Whalers license plates very soon
  12. Jeff Jacobs, who was at Courant for decades, jumps overnight to 8 local newspapers
  13. XL Center starts partnership with Lyft
  14. East Hartford outlet construction suddenly and strangely halted construction, days after official Ground Breaking
  15. popular Busway going to be added to East of river
  16. new casino in East Windsor, after movie theatre sat vacant there for 15 years
  17. My-TV 9 makes deal to air UConn Hockey games
  18. Hurricanes decide to start wearing Whalers jerseys during game
  19. Governor Malloy proposes another $100 Million for the XL Center
  20. The Eagles, biggest American band of the 20th Century, schedules XL Center date
  21. Journey is starting their World Tour in Hartford at the XL Center
  22. Whaler/Hurricanes announcer has his daughter appear on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"
  23. Outdoor Whalers announcement scheduled for early March 2018 at Blue Back Square
  24. Governor Malloy requests the Hurricanes to play an Outdoor Game in East Hartford

Two things...

One, F you Luke DeCock.  The name says it all.

Two, as I have tried to explain to you people, the Hurricanes are not...as in N-O-T moving back here.  They have a sweetheart lease until 2024,  they play in an arena whose lower bowl is almost as big as our ENTIRE ARENA.  A preseason game here...against the Rangers, as their AHL team is the one that plays here, for now, is possible.  But that's it.  Not a regular season game in the XL Center...and definitely not an outdoor game at the Rent.  Focus on the Coyotes.  That's the team Malloy should be wooing.  Not the Islanders, and not the Hurricanes.

Well, that was a stupid knee-jerk thing to say, and apparently we have less than 10 minutes to edit a post. I was trying to and it timed me out. This board is ridiculous.

Anyway, what I wanted to say was that Biggie and I were actually in the middle of a rather intelligent and engaging conversation about hockey and the Whalers and how people ract to him, and actually paid him a compliment, and right in the middle of it he banned me. I was perplexed.

Open note to Josh: let's finish our conversation. We're polar opposites on this issue, but that was a great talk we were having. I want to finish it.

Open note to Josh:

1) Nobody cares about the Calder Cup.

2) Malloy cares about the Whalers because NHL teams produce tens of millions of dollars in revenue to the city and state.  The AHL produces much, much less than that.

Hate to say it, but the only way we're gonna get the Whale back is if we all move the heck out of this corrupt state and relocate to North Carolina. Unless things change dramatically, this place will be in my rear-view mirror within the next 10 years or so - and I hear the same thing from people I interact with on a daily basis. The death spiral these politicians have put this state in doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. I would love to be proven wrong, but this place is a very pale shadow of what it used to be -  even back in 97 when the whalers moved. Stop the insane spending, get the debt under control, try to grow the jobs and population again and maybe, just maybe we'll be in a position for the NHL to come back again.

Remember when you said Jerry and I should quit?

Yes I do and I still feel that way. You two are clowns who think you are doing something when you are doing nothing. All your bit-ching and all you have to show for it is a lousy license plate. Whoopee!!!

In the past 4 weeks, Pete (the Brigade) and the Governor are responsible for bringing the Whaler license plate to the public, and the Brigade and the Governor are working on bringing the Winter Cla$sic to East Hartford in the coming years.

I wonder if you folks understand how much Governor Malloy damaged the non-existent chances of Hartford landing another team. This letter is an arrogant, condescending piece of trash. Calling Hartford the team's "right**l home". Trashing Raleigh as less viable than Hartford. This is not how to go about ingratiating yourself to the NHL. The folks at Sixth Avenue have to be rolling their eyes at this.

There is no reason for the Hurricanes will play a "home" game in Hartford in any cir*****stance. They have their own fans to attend to and build on. A trip to Hartford would be an unnecessary diversion.

But I am guessing this means nothing to most of you. Fine, keep living in a dream world.

I get malloy has teased Hartford Hockey Hope**lls with make believe investment groups and no upgrades to the XL that make it truly look like it's in the 21 century. But Carolina "fans" and "journalists are pretty **nny thinking that they truly have a decent fan base they can "grow". Dundon had a pack the lower bowl promo and the lower bowl was empty and after people moved down to the lower bowl the lower bowl still had holes in it.

Carolina peaked whatever "fanbase" they the few years after the cup. There are tickets on StubHub where season ticket holders are selling seats for $10 and they still can't come close to filling up the arena. If they actually had decent TV ratings and larger crowds they could maybe stick it to us in Hartford. But After 20 years they are 3rd to last in home attendance.

The Islanders are just as bad yet they're getting a new arena. I think Dundon might be able to bring more people in next year. He has a good track record of being able to do that with the other teams he's been involved with over the years. He's done it in the minors and the majors, and I think embracing the team's **ll history is a good start. It doesn't mean he's going to play a game up here or move the team up here either. He's just trying to find more ways to make the team money and to get more people to come to games. Next year Dundon will have more control and will be able to setup promotions to bring in people.

Dundon is probably the smartest businessman to ever own this franchise. He's several steps ahead dealing with different scenarios. Nobody knows what's going to happen, but whatever does, he's already planned for it.

Evo, it's time "HartfordHadIt", aka Greg, gets the boot again.  You'd think he'd learn???

Monizzle, with all due respect, I disagree with you regarding the Canes fanbase.  When the team has been competitive, the fans have come out.  When the team hasn't been competitive, the fans find something else to do.  It's very similar to here, in that regard.

If we had a team here and we missed the playoffs for 8 years in a row, possibly 9...our attendance would probably be last in the league or close also.
