Markets that are smaller than hartford are mostly in canadian cities where hockey is a religion. Most of the american markets have larger population bases and fans that are not as fair weather as CT. Southern markets (that should have never had hockey) are struggling but the NHL doesn't want another team treading water like pheonix, florida etc. At the end of the day our market needs to be less fair weather and support whatever type of team we have which i don't see. Im not saying 13K every night but it needs to be allot better than it is now. An nhl team would not change much of the fair weather attitude by sports fans here.

if my doubts about the fanbase don't make sense why hasn't the nhl worked with hartford to get a team back so quickly? the point is there are doubts about bringing at team here based on the fanbase otherwise the nhl or potentail owners would move here. Which is why instead of sitting back saying oh if we just had this or that a team would come back i argue that we need to get more people into hockey if we want pro hockey back.

"You think you know the "market" but you know nothing about sports fans in ct under 30 which in the next decade will decide the **ture of not only hartford hockey but uconn sports based on how they support a team. but again keep talking in the dark about how the next generation will follow what the previous generation. Its not that simple people my age need to care more about the sports in hartford for the sake of **ture hockey in hartford and uconn's conference reallignment."

Ahhhh, so it's the 20somethings that will determine whether we get the NHL or whether or not UConn goes to the ACC?

Jersey's right, Monizzle, you're in your own little world.

as people my age get into their 30's they will replace people now in their 30's/40's they will own local businesses and decide where their families go for entertainment. If they don't push for certain sports and support them locally what else do you think will happen? Cause at this point any chances of the **ture of pro sports are 5 to 10 years away from seeing how they will excatly end

Who else has the NHL worked with? The answer is no one. They don't build arenas or call the shots for the local Gov't. They simply move to if need be to the best suitable location available. Did they work with Winnipeg? No. WPG built their own arena, formed their own ownership and than the NHL came calling because they had no other option. And to play devils advocate how do you know whether or not the NHL isn't helping Hartford. Maybe they had a hand in Global bidding on the XL Center and they're working with the Flyers (Ed Snider) to help create another potential suitable market just in case. Or maybe Snider is secretly campaigning for another Hartford franchise because it would open up another revenue stream for him and reduce travel costs for himself and his buddy Jeremy Jacobs. Who knows, but the point is you don't either.

Monizzle the only reason Hartford is not under serious consideration is because of the arena situation, PERIOD. Ask GB he'll even tell you that.

he said it was one of the requirements to qualify not the end all be all requrement and he never specifically said anything about if hartford builds an arena a team would go there. hes really been on the side of caution about giving a specific scenario to any city that might get a **ture team.

No he specifically said that if Hartford has everything in a row they could have a team if someone wants to bring one there.. Now go ahead and twist it up as to why would anyone want to.. Obviously you are to young to remember the whalers and the city the way it used to be and you are basing the monizzletheory on ahl hockey.. Having **n in your world

when did everything in a row mean just an arena? he never specifically said if they get a new arena they will get a team. whale of all time said that we don't have a team based on the arena situation (in all caps to over compensate) period. in what world is has everything in a row a synonym to a new arena period?
